To Take my DSLR Camera or Not

I spent several weeks flipping back and forth with the decision to take my DSLR Camera on my 16 day Journey or to leave it behind. I have finally decided to take it. I will let you know if this was a mistake or not.

My biggest con for thinking I would not take my DSLR is the size. The carrying case I have is just huge. I kept thinking, “How could I take it along with my backpack and carry on. There is just no way! 1 personal item, 1 carry on!” I was really concerned it would take up to much space in my backpack (my backpack is my personal carry on item…need room for all the things you need for four 10+hour flights), and I wouldn’t dare put it in there unprotected. My other con is just lugging around a heavy camera, but that is a small worry.

On the flip I really want to take some AMAZING photos. After all, Lauren and I will be in Switzerland,  Tanzania + a safari & Zanzibar, then we will end in London. Who wouldn’t want to be able to taking great photos? So, I began doing some research. If I can tell you anything…research, research, and research!

What I found: I hit Amazon and found padded cases to go inside your bag/backpack/purse that were a lot smaller. A whole lot smaller it seemed. I took the measurements given and pulled out my tape measure. Yes. My camera could fit at the bottom of my backpack, fully protected. The case can also fit in my across body bag that I will carry everywhere. $16.00 + no shipping…PRIME! I decided to order it!

Here is the case I found (see the picts of it below):  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DNOZN6K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

My Personal Item on the plane, my backpack, that has traveled to so many countries with me .

The padded case to go inside a bag/backpack/or purse. It is 9″x7″x4″ and holds my camera with lens, charger, and large zoom lens.

And here it is in my Backpack. I still have 2 large compartments (back and front) and half of this one. Hope everything fits.
