Our Evening adventure to Schaffhausen

Lauren and I decided to hop on a train last minute. This kind of thing is not a “normal me” moment, but we did! Trust the train ticket people at the Flughafen Zurich (This is the Zurich Airport).

Around 4:30pm we walked up to the Ticket agent and asked where we could go for Dinner. The lady immediately said, “Schaffhausen.” It was 50 minutes away and she said we would not be sorry. She was right!

We jumped on the train 3 minutes later and went to our unknown location. Everyone is very friendly in Switzerland. A young girl was sitting across from us, she kindly gave us all of the scoop on her home “village”. When we arrived she walked us to the beginning of old town and left us to it.

Sunday night is a great time to visit Schaffhausen. The snow was falling and the streets were empty. It was kinda wild because all of the stores were closed. We walked, twirled, took picts in the street and checked out where we might eat dinner. The girl had pointed us towards the castle and we were determined to find it. In the dark, with no one around, we made our way up the stairs…many, many stairs…to the top of the castle. It was magical and beautiful. I think that most of my photos have dashes of snow in them.

After that adventure we headed back down and went to an amazing pizzeria. It was so good. After that we went into McDonalds (the only coffee place open) and had coffee before ending our evening. A little bit later we got back on the train and headed back to Zurich. THIS will be a night that we will always remember. Magical is all that can describe this night. I am SO GLAD that I was adventurous and hopped on a train to the unknown.
