Purchase Travel Insurance and Carry a Folder

I know I know. Why would I spend the money? Let me tell you why. We have now used travel insurance twice. I didn’t say purchased it twice. USED it twice. It has came in very handy and we are firm believers that it is worth the money (which it is quite inexpensive).

My daughter was sick in Ethiopia and so was I on a different trip. The insurance covered her 40.00 hospital visit, which gave us the needed document to seek treatment back in the states (that was an important piece of paper). We did have over 1500.00 worth of blood drawn when we arrived home (this same procedure was included in the 40.00 at the hospital in Ethiopia). The insurance also covered needed medicine. The travel insurance covered every dime. It also covered flight change fees which were around 800.00 for 3 people. I had an allergic reaction to some malaria medicine I took while on a missions trip in Ethiopia. The travel insurance covered my hospital visit, our flight home for me and my son, plus 2 hospital visits and 2 urgent care visits once home. GET Travel Insurance. You just never know.

This years after Thanksgiving cruise, on day 2 we were diverted to Cozumel for 3 medical evacuations. Count them. 3! Crazy. The first announcement was that they were going to travel back 5 hours to meet a helicopter, then they changed their plans. Do you know that medical evacuations are covered? They are.

Carry a Folder. Put all of your travel documents in a folder in your backpack or large closeable purse. Have your travel insurance, hotel reservations, cruise documents, car rental agreement, excursion papers, etc. Whatever it is, organize it all in one folder and then your stress will be cut down when you need that “important paper”.
